Universal Laser Systems CO2 laser source refill, repair and exchange
Laser-Store24, an independent workshop in Rutesheim, Germany, refills, repairs and exchanges Universal Laser Systems (ULS) RF CO2 laser sources from the ULR and UL series. We hold almost all common sources in stock, so a 1:1 exchange can usually be arranged at short notice. Depending on model and power, a refill or exchange costs €490–11,900 net (excl. VAT), workshop time is 3–7 working days, and every refilled source comes with a 12-month functional warranty on our work.
Can you refill Universal Laser Systems laser sources?
Yes. Universal Laser Systems is one of the CO2 source manufacturers we regularly refill and repair, alongside brands such as Trotec, Synrad, Coherent and Iradion. For an overview of all brands, see our CO2 laser tube refill page.
These are the ULS models we handle:
| Series | Models |
|---|---|
| ULR | ULR-10, ULR-25, ULR-30, ULR-40, ULR-50, ULR-60, ULR-75, ULR-100, ULR-120, ULR-150 |
| UL | UL-25, UL-30, UL-35, UL-40, UL-45, UL-50, UL-55, UL-60 |
The exact part number is on the source's rating plate. Send us a photo and we will quickly confirm feasibility and price.
Why is a ULS source called an RF laser rather than a tube?
The ULS sources we work on are exclusively RF CO2 sources: the gas mixture is sealed inside a metal housing and excited by radio-frequency electronics. They are not consumable glass tubes. Before we open a source, we test its power supply, driver and cooling.
Over time the gas mixture (CO2, nitrogen and helium) degrades and output power drops. A refill restores the original gas mixture, which is why the process is often called a "regas".
What are the signs of a weak ULS laser source?
- You need two passes where one used to be enough.
- Cut edges are burnt.
- Output power fluctuates.
- The laser is hard to fire up from cold.
A source that no longer cuts 4 mm plywood in one pass often still delivers 70–80 % of its rated power. Before sending anything, check the optics and beam alignment: dirty optics or a misaligned beam cause exactly the same symptoms. Our maintenance and repair service can diagnose the machine, remotely first, then on site.
How does a ULS laser refill work?
- You describe the source and send it in; we reply within 24 hours (working days).
- We measure the source when it arrives in the workshop.
- You receive a fixed-price quote, and nothing is done without your approval.
- We refill the source, measure it a second time and return it fully insured.
If the source cannot be refilled, you are not charged for a refill and we suggest a replacement instead.
What happens in the workshop?
- Incoming test and power measurement.
- Diagnosis by residual gas analysis (mass spectrometry).
- Vacuum and leak-tightness check, including a helium leak test.
- Filling with the original gas mixture.
- Inspection of the resonator and optics.
- Check of the RF/HF electronics.
- Adjustment.
- Final measurement.
Vacuum tightness is monitored over several hours; output power and beam profile are checked before return. You receive a before-and-after measurement report with the electrical parameters.
How much does a Universal Laser Systems refill cost, and how long does it take?
- Price: €490–11,900 net (excl. VAT), depending on the source, as a fixed-price quote after measurement.
- Saving: a refill costs 30–50 % less than a new source.
- Workshop time: 3–7 working days.
- 1:1 exchange: if a compatible source is in stock, tested and approved, it ships within 24 hours at the same price as a refill; your old source comes back to us as part of the exchange.
- Warranty: 12-month functional warranty on our work.
What do you need from me for a quote?
- Machine model, rated power and serial number.
- A photo of the source's rating plate.
- A short description of the symptoms.
Sending your Universal Laser Systems source from the UK
A shipment from Germany to the UK is an export, so our invoice carries no German VAT. UK import VAT and customs clearance are handled through the courier. For a refill or repair, the source can be sent as a temporary export (outward processing for repair); your customs agent or courier handles the paperwork. EU businesses with a VAT ID are invoiced without German VAT (reverse charge). Packing instructions: shipping and packaging.
Do you sell used ULS laser machines?
Yes. Universal Laser Systems is one of the brands we recondition and sell used: source power measured on the test bench and stated, optics cleaned or replaced, beam realigned, mechanics checked, and a cutting and engraving test before packing, with at least 6 months' warranty. See our used laser machines.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Universal Laser Systems refills
Which Universal Laser Systems models do you accept?
RF sources from the ULR series (ULR-10 to ULR-150) and the UL series (UL-25 to UL-60). Send us a photo of the rating plate and we will confirm compatibility before you ship anything.
Can a ULS laser source be refilled more than once?
Yes, as long as the condition of the source allows it. Our incoming diagnosis decides whether another refill makes sense.
Will my ULS source get its original power back?
Output returns to the original value or close to it, and the result is documented in the measurement report.
Are you an authorised Universal Laser Systems service centre?
No. Laser-Store24 is independent, and our 12-month warranty covers our work; it is not a manufacturer's warranty.
How do I get a quote for a ULS refill?
Message us on WhatsApp at +49 1577 1423812, call the office on +49 7152 7644099, e-mail info@laser-store24.com or use our contact page.
Is your laser source losing power? Have it measured.
Brand, model, symptoms: we tell you whether a refill makes sense before you send anything.
