Trotec Speedy laser source refill, repair and exchange (TL2 to TL8)
Laser-Store24 is an independent workshop in Rutesheim, Germany, that refills, repairs and exchanges the CO2 laser sources fitted to Trotec Speedy machines: TL2 (T2, 30 W), TL3, TL4, TL6 and TL8. A refill costs €490–11,900 net (excl. VAT) depending on model and power, takes 3–7 working days in our workshop and comes with a 12-month functional warranty on our work. If a matching tested source is in stock, a 1:1 exchange can ship within 24 hours.
Which Trotec laser sources can be refilled?
Depending on configuration, Speedy machines use different CO2 sources, and several of them are Iradion sources under a Trotec name.
| Trotec source | Equivalent source | Power |
|---|---|---|
| TL2 (T2) | Synrad 48-2 on older machines, later an Iradion source | 30 W |
| TL3 | Iradion 154F | See rating plate |
| TL4 | Iradion 156F | 55–80 W |
| TL6 | Iradion 1510F | 85–100 W |
| TL8 | Iradion 1512F | High-power configurations |
TL3, TL4, TL6 and TL8 are Iradion sources rebadged by Trotec: the hardware is the same, only the designation differs. Whether your rating plate says "TL" or "Iradion", we handle it in exactly the same way.
The TL2 (T2, 30 W) comes in several variants. Older machines were often fitted with a Synrad 48-2, newer ones with a T2 or Iradion source. We refill and exchange all of these variants, and a photo of the rating plate is enough for us to identify yours.
We keep a stock of sources for a range of Trotec systems. Some Trotec machines also use Synrad/Novanta sources: see Synrad laser tube refill. For Iradion sources fitted to machines other than Trotec, see Iradion laser tube refill.
How do you know your Trotec laser source is getting weak?
- You need more power to get the same result.
- You have to slow the machine down.
- Cuts need several passes instead of one.
- Engraving looks uneven or the power fluctuates.
- The source is hard to start when cold.
- The machine runs, but there is no laser output.
A source that no longer cuts 4 mm plywood in a single pass often still delivers 70–80 % of its rated power. Before you write the source off, have the optics and alignment checked: a dirty mirror or an off-centre beam causes exactly the same symptoms.
Refill, repair or 1:1 exchange: which option suits you?
Refill (regas): your source is measured, refilled with the original gas mixture (CO2, nitrogen, helium) and measured again. Workshop time: 3–7 working days.
1:1 exchange: if a compatible source is in stock, tested and approved, it can ship within 24 hours at the same price as a refill. Your old source comes back to us as part of the exchange.
Trotec service: beyond the source itself, we handle diagnostics, optics, beam path, focus, components, repairs and final inspection. See laser machine maintenance and repair.

What happens to your Trotec source in our workshop?
- Incoming test and power measurement.
- Diagnosis, including residual gas analysis by mass spectrometry.
- Vacuum and leak-tightness check (helium leak test).
- Refill with the original gas mixture.
- Resonator and optics check.
- RF/HF electronics check.
- Adjustment.
- Final measurement.
With an RF source, the power supply, driver and cooling are measured before the source is opened. Vacuum tightness is monitored over several hours, and output power and beam profile are checked before it goes back to you. You receive a before-and-after measurement report including the electrical parameters.
On request, and depending on model and location, we can also take care of removal, installation, inspection, adjustment and alignment.
How much does a Trotec laser tube refill cost?
- €490–11,900 net (excl. VAT) depending on model and power, as a fixed-price quote after measurement.
- Nothing is done without your approval.
- If the source cannot be refilled, you are not charged for a refill and we propose a replacement.
- A refill typically costs 30–50 % less than a new source.
What do we need from you?
- Manufacturer, machine model, rated power and serial number.
- A photo of the source's rating plate.
- A description of the symptoms.
Sending your Trotec source from the UK
- A shipment from Germany to the UK is an export, so our invoice carries no German VAT.
- UK import VAT and customs clearance are handled through the courier.
- For a refill or repair, the source can be sent as a temporary export / outward processing for repair; your customs agent or courier handles the paperwork.
- EU businesses with a VAT ID are invoiced without German VAT (reverse charge).
How to pack the source safely: shipping and packaging.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Trotec refills
Can a Trotec laser source be refilled more than once?
Yes, as long as the source body is intact and the electrodes are not eroded.
Will my Trotec source get its original power back?
Power returns to the original value or close to it. The before-and-after measurement report shows exactly where it stands.
How long will my Speedy be out of action?
Allow 3–7 working days in the workshop for a refill. With a 1:1 exchange from stock, a replacement source can ship within 24 hours.
Are you an authorised Trotec service partner?
No. Laser-Store24 is independent, and our 12-month warranty covers our work; it is not a Trotec warranty.
How do I get a quote?
Send us the model, rated power, serial number and a photo of the rating plate by WhatsApp, phone or e-mail, or via the contact form. We reply within 24 hours on working days.
Is your laser source losing power? Have it measured.
Brand, model, symptoms: we tell you whether a refill makes sense before you send anything.
